A seasonal forecast is most useful when it connects supply to the work that drives consumption. Last year’s order total is a starting point, but it may include stock bought early, an equipment change or a one-off event.
Choose a workload indicator
For dishwashing, rack counts may provide a useful operational reference. For other cleaning tasks, the relevant measure might be occupied rooms, service days, event attendance or cleaned area. Choose a measure the business can record consistently.
Keep the relationship practical rather than pretending it predicts chemical use perfectly. Changes in task method, soil and equipment can alter consumption, so note those factors separately.
Separate known events from routine demand
Create a calendar of closures, major bookings, extended hours and planned maintenance. Identify deliveries that may be affected by holidays or site access. Confirm current lead times with the supplier rather than assuming last season’s arrangement still applies.
Use three planning views:
- Normal workload based on current operations.
- Confirmed additional demand from known events.
- A stated allowance for uncertainty, with its rationale.
Keep these assumptions visible. A single unexplained forecast number is difficult to update when an event changes.
Check the storage constraint
Compare the proposed stock with available approved storage, product conditions and handling arrangements. Do not solve a seasonal concern by placing chemical stock in an unsuitable temporary area.
If storage is limited, discuss delivery frequency or order timing with the supplier. The solution may be a different replenishment arrangement rather than a larger package or an early bulk purchase.
Review during the season
Compare actual use and remaining stock with the forecast at a practical interval. Record why a difference occurred and update the remaining plan. A forecast should help the business respond to change, not become a target staff must force actual usage to match.
Use the reorder-point guide for the day-to-day trigger and container-size framework when supply formats are under review. Contact Aspin to confirm current availability and delivery arrangements before relying on them in the plan.
