An installation site brief collects information for the qualified installer. It is not a design, a statement that existing connections are suitable or instructions for performing utility work. Its value is reducing surprises before the installation is planned.
Start with the location, business contact, intended installation date and the machine being considered. If the model is undecided, state the operational requirements rather than guessing the technical specification.
Describe the physical setting
Provide available drawings or measured information where reliable, identifying who supplied it. Include access routes, doorways, the proposed equipment position and adjacent work areas. Photographs can help explain the space, but they do not replace an onsite assessment where one is needed.
Note restrictions such as delivery times, shared corridors, building-management requirements and periods when the business cannot tolerate disruption. Tell the installer about known constraints before an attendance date is agreed.
Collect utility information for assessment
Gather existing documentation for water, drainage, power and any other services relevant to the proposed machine. Label unknowns clearly. Do not inspect live electrical components, alter connections or remove equipment covers to complete the brief.
Ask the installer which details require verification by the appropriate qualified trade. A connection being physically nearby does not establish that it meets the machine's requirements.
Agree project ownership
List who supplies the machine, prepares the site, performs installation, removes old equipment and coordinates commissioning. If several contractors are involved, identify the person responsible for the overall schedule and handover.
Include a plan for normal operations while the work occurs. Delivery, disconnection, installation and return to service may happen at different times; treat them as separate milestones until confirmed otherwise.
Before authorising the work, review the written scope, outstanding questions and responsibilities with the provider. Retain the final documents with the equipment record.
