ASPIN CLEANING GUIDES / Rinse & Finish

Evaluating a New Rinse Additive

Plan a rinse-additive evaluation around comparable ware, documented service and practical results. Agree success criteria before changing the installed supply.

A useful rinse-additive evaluation begins with a specific question. The business may want to understand drying performance, supply reliability or the total cost of its warewashing arrangement. Define that question before the transition so the review does not depend on a vague impression of shine.

Establish a baseline

Record the machine, current products, rack mix and normal operating process. Choose a representative observation period and describe any existing spots, droplets or rewash work. Keep the assessment separate from the site’s mandatory process verification.

If equipment or water-system faults are already known, address them through the responsible service provider. A product trial conducted during an unresolved fault may not answer the intended question.

Coordinate the change

Have the appropriate provider confirm product compatibility and the transition procedure. Do not mix products or improvise changes to the feed system. Record the date, product identity and person responsible for the approved setup.

Staff need to know the new product name, where its instructions are kept and how to report an issue. They should not change settings to help the trial appear successful.

Compare the agreed observations

  • Use similar ware and approved rack arrangements.
  • Include the normal busy service period.
  • Record visible drying results using the same categories.
  • Note service interventions and unrelated operational changes.
  • Review purchasing and support requirements alongside performance.

For consumption comparisons, use a common workload measure and obtain the supplier’s explanation of the dispensing arrangement. Container price alone is not the full cost of a working system.

Make the decision traceable

Summarise what improved, what did not change and what remains uncertain. Keep the decision with the equipment record and update ordering details only after the intended supply arrangement is confirmed.

R-10 is Aspin’s rinse additive for commercial dishwashers. To prepare a focused review, use the rinse-aid adjustment record and contact Aspin with the equipment and operating information rather than requesting an unsupported universal dose.
